Sofie Verraest is preparing a Ph.D. at the Department of General and Comparative Literature Studies at Ghent University. She holds an M.A. in Comparative Modern Literature (2008) from Ghent University and was an exchange student at the Université de Provence Aix-Marseille I (2006-2007). With a scholarship for specialization granted by the Flemish Community, she was enrolled in an M.A. of Philosophy taught in English at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski during the academic year of 2008-2009. She is currently employed on a project funded by the Flemish Fund for Scientific Research (FWO), entitled “Urban Design and Narrative Chronotopes in the Post-War Novel. A Comparative Analysis of Landscape Perceptions in Literary and Urban Discourses,” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bart Keunen (Department of General and Comparative Literature Studies) and Prof. Dr. Pieter Uyttenhove (Department of Architecture and Urbanism).
