Annelies Oeyen is a PhD student in the Department of Romance Languages at Ghent University. She holds degrees from the University of Antwerp (Licentiate in Romance Languages, 2006; Teacher Training Certificate, 2007) and was an exchange student at the Autonomous University of Madrid in 2005.
Employed on the project “Imaginary Renderings of the Apocalypse in Contemporary Hispano-American Literature,” which is funded by the Flemish Research Council (FWO-Vlaanderen), Annelies investigates different expressions of the apocalyptic urban chronotope (rewritings of the science fiction genre, dystopic spaces, revised utopias) in the work of contemporary Argentinian writers such as Marcelo Cohen, Sergio Chejfec, Rafael Pinedo, Pedro Mairal and César Aira.
